viral twitter threads, explained

inside the mind of a ghostwriting CEO

My thread went viral.

I want to breakdown exactly “why” so you can understand how we do this for our clients.

The thread:

I wrote this thread last year on The Birdhouse’s 1 year anniversary.

It went viral for 2 reasons:

  1. I mentioned a bunch of big names in the industry and ‘paid homage’ to them for our success. This makes them look good and prompts them to engage and boost the thread.

  2. The hook is “Spectacular” and “Extravagant”.

The very nature of “in 1 year” and “the only 9 threads” makes the reader feel like they can’t miss this.

It’s not a thread you can see everyday, and that in and of itself makes this a ‘scroll-stopper’.

Something that people actually stop and take time to read.

So a thought we have when writing client content is always:

“How can I make this more spectacular?”

“How can I make this a scroll-stopper?”

Hope you find this helpful,

Cheers.
